Grown A** Rock Camp is a program of Knoxville Girls Rock Camp and KnowHow. Knoxville Girls Rock Camp believes that women, transgender, and gender-nonconforming Grown Ass folks deserve the support and encouragement to participate fully in the field of music as a form of empowerment and expression. We believe in building confidence, encouraging artistic communication, forming community and providing emotional support for well-being. We believe creative expression and collaboration can empower them to work together to solve problems, communicate their unique ideas and viewpoints, and overcome social challenges they uniquely experience.

Grown A** Rock Camp is a new programming opportunity. Grown ass folks who are women, trans, gender non-conforming, and non-binary get a weekend of camp to form a band, write a song, and perform it! Grown A** Rock Camp is intended to be a fundraiser for Knoxville Girls Rock Camp in order for us to provide more programs, better gear, and expand our camp. We also hope our Grown A** Rock Campers will join us at Knoxville Girls Rock Camp to support our young people in their journey!

Grown A** Rock Camp is a program of KnowHow Knoxville, a community organization that works at the intersection of critical and creative thinking to support young people in leadership development and civic engagement. We are also a member of the international Girls Rock Camp Alliance and benefit from the support of more than 65 camps worldwide who have been operating successfully for many years and share resources, best practices, and evidence-based programming components.

2018 Camp

Grown Ass Rock Camp was held November 9-11, 2018 all day Friday, all day Saturday and a half-day Sunday with performance on Sunday night. Camp was held at the Highlander Research and Education Center with the performance on Sunday November 11 at the Pilot Light in Knoxville, TN.
